Southern Arizona VA MRI Suite Building 81
This healthcare project includes a master plan for utilities to support four future phases and a second floor.
As a part of the Veterans Affairs initiative to improve the accessibility and quality of patient care, the Tucson VA undertook this project to create an outpatient Radiology Center in a location convenient for VA patients. The project includes MRI, CT scan, Nuclear Medicine, Linear Accelerator and general radiology services such as X-ray, ultra sound and mammography. Since the project is located in the main hospital, it provides easy access for VA patients.
The project phasing presents unique challenges, because it will be built in four separate phases, including the second floor. All prior phases have been designed to remain operational during subsequent construction periods, and utilities have been planned for easy expansion to future phases. Extensive medical planning sessions were held to build flexibility into the plan in anticipation of rapidly changing imaging technology.
